Did you know that as a coworking member or tenant of TechTown, you get parking included in your membership? We have a spacious, secured lot for our community, located on the corner of Cass Avenue and Amsterdam Street! (Our lovely Membership Manager Erica Overstreet is pictured here in the lot.) Upon becoming a TechTown member, you’ll receive a parking pass to hook onto your rearview mirror. TechTown will be closed for the Juneteenth holiday

TechTown will be closed Thursday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth. While members and tenants will still have access to the building using their mobile pass, our front desk will be closed, and members and tenants will not be able to book meeting or event spaces. Our operations will resume on Friday, June 20.

These Wayne State students are seeking input from the TechTown communityStudents taking the university’s 2025 Master of Urban Planning Capstone class are partnering with the Division of Entrepreneurship and Economic Development to conduct a student-led planning effort. The goal is to further identify and connect the New Center Innovation District. As research is being conducted, the planning team would greatly appreciate feedback from the TechTown community.

The winner of the Hatch Detroit Contest!

Congratulations to Walter Pat’s Bakery Cafe, who we crowned the winner of the 2025 Comerica Hatch Detroit Contest by TechTown at our Hatch Off last Thursday! Owner Lauren Ellis took home the $100,000 grand prize, courtesy of Comerica Bank, to kickstart and open the brick-and-mortar business of her dreams in Detroit. She will also receive technical assistance from TechTown Detroit and its partners. The other three finalists, Detroit Culture & Clay, Halie and Co and Livy’s Sweet Rolls, each received $10,000 for their business, courtesy of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Small Business Support Hubs program. Thank you all who showed up for the 2025 Comerica Hatch Detroit Contest season! Whether you attended an event, voted for a business, shared information online or donated to the cause, all efforts are greatly appreciated!

RBC: E-commerce & Home-based Edition apps close in 10 days!

Don’t forget: Applications are open for the fall 2025 cohort of our Retail Boot Camp: E-commerce & Home-based Edition program! This eight-week program is designed for home-based, pop-up and e-commerce businesses based in Wayne County or owned by residents of Wayne County. Apps close in 10 DAYS, on Thursday, June 26!

Our next session is a virtual one tomorrow, Tuesday, June 17, at 6 p.m. Be prepared to learn more about the program and application and get your questions answered. This is our last virtual info session of the application period!

 

 

Our first Ask an Expert Drop-in Day

The launch of our monthly Ask an Expert Drop-In Days at TechTown is this week! 

Join us on Wednesday, June 18, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., to meet one-on-one with members of our Professional Service Network (PSN) for personalized support — at no cost! This month’s PSN members will share their expertise in funding, marketing and branding, wholesaling and fulfillment, and legal support. 

You can schedule one or multiple sessions — make our Ask an Expert Drop-In Day your one-stop shop for business support!
