The topic in Something to Think About is “Now What?” The death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia leaves the Supreme Court with 8 members and may stymie decisions on a host of issues that have long divided the remaining justices, 4-4, into conservative and liberal blocs.
What will happen to the cases that have already been argued, but without a final opinion, that are sure to be 4-4? What about the cases that are due to be argued?
