Welcomes Jason Wilson as Deputy Director
LANSING, Mich. – Today, Dr. Beverly Walker-Griffea, director of the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential (MiLEAP), is announcing the launch of the new Office of Strategic Talent Preparation, aimed at expanding access to MiLEAP programs and resources and growing Michigan’s talent pipeline.
Jason Wilson (left) joins as the first deputy director of the office to lead efforts to establish on-the-ground connections with individuals across the state, especially those in underserved areas, to ensure MiLEAP priorities are aligned with the needs of Michigan communities.
“The new Office of Strategic Talent Preparation will help our department create meaningful and intentional connections with individuals across the state, enabling us to better address their needs and aspirations,” said Director Walker-Griffea. “We are pleased to welcome Jason Wilson to our team and excited about how his extensive experience and knowledge will empower us to improve outcomes for all Michiganders from birth through postsecondary to prosperity.”
Jason brings more than 25 years of student services experience to this role, having most recently served as the vice president of Student Academic Success and chief academic officer at Mott Community College, where he also acted as the liaison to the Higher Learning Commission. During his distinguished higher education career, Jason also served children, adults and families as a licensed clinical therapist for 20 years. He brings a wealth of experience serving on nonprofit boards and working closely with community organizations in many leadership roles and has a proven track record in successfully securing vital resources to support various programs and projects, ensuring sustainable prosperity in underserved communities. Jason holds a Master of Arts in Counseling and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, and he is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education in Higher Education and Adult Learning.
