Sandy Baruah, President and CEO of the Detroit Regional Chamber, speaks at the 2015 MICHauto Summit, on the Michigan auto industry’s history, present day, and future. He talks about next generation mobility, talent, policy, infrastructure and technology. Sandy describes the challenges the industry has seen from back in 1907 to the current challenges of today.
Michigan is the leader in advanced technology. It is truly the epicenter for the automotive industry, with its 13 assembly plants, 500 R&D centers and 14 tool and die companies across the state. In addition, 61 of the top North America suppliers have their headquarters in Michigan. Sandy also talks about the talent gap and the R&D communities, like Mcity Test Facility, that are being developed.
