Your Amazon Orders May be Coming Via Drone in the Next Year

TechnologyAmazon made waves last year when it acquired drone technology from several startups. Once the Federal Aviation Administration finalizes regulations for commercial drone usage, Amazon plans to use drones to make deliveries of goods ordered through their site.

The company wants to bring packages to Prime members within 30 minutes of an order placement. Amazon already holds patents for drone delivery, including a system that will bring packages to a person’s current location rather than a stored shipping address. Amazon has been using artificial intelligence technology and predictive logistics to begin moving items to various warehouse and distribution hubs in advance of customer demand – essentially shipping items to customers before they even buy them.
