U.S. House Select Committee on Economic Disparity and Fairness in Growth Releases First-of-its-Kind Documentary on YouTube

WASHINGTON – Wednesday, the U.S. House Select Committee on Economic Disparity and Fairness in Growth released its groundbreaking documentary-style film, Grit & Grace: The Fight for the American Dream, on YouTube. The 30-minute motion picture – produced by the Committee and narrated by EMMY award-winner Sarah Jessica Parker – was hailed by the Washington Post as “an unprecedented break from the traditional output of lawmakers on Capitol Hill,” and profiled in a New York Times feature published earlier today.

The Committee’s first-of-its-kind documentary – which premiered last night as part of a special event at the National Archives with the families featured in the film – was released in tandem with its final report, Bridging the Divide: Building an Economy that Works for All. The report addresses the contributing factors and systemic barriers keeping Americans from finding economic security, and includes a series of actionable, bipartisan policy recommendations that the 118th Congress can implement to provide immediate economic support to the growing share of Americans that are struggling to make ends meet.“The Select Committee on Economic Disparity and Fairness in Growth’s final report and unique film reflect the mission of our House Democratic Majority: forging a country where all our children can reach their fulfillment and live their American Dream,” said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. “With the release of its insightful and diligently prepared findings, the Select Committee is helping chart our nation’s path toward a fairer, more prosperous economy for all Americans.”Click here to watch the Committee’s 30-minute film.Click here to watch the National Archives premiere including a fireside chat with Chairman Himes and the families featured in the film.Click here to read the Committee’s final report.
