Wall Street Wrapup - Big Losses in Tech Stocks!The Dow eked out a small gain to close above 18,000 on Friday, while the benchmark S&P 500 closed virtually unchanged, with both indexes posting modest weekly gains for a second consecutive week. Meanwhile, big losses in tech stocks, such as Alphabet Inc. and Microsoft Corp, dragged the Nasdaq Composite lower. The Dow gained 21 to 18,004, the S&P was flat closing at 2,092 and the Nasdaq slipped 40 to 4,906.

The Dow industrials and the S&P 500 may be hurtling toward record highs, but the American people, whose love affair with stocks has understandably waned since the Great Recession, look to be more hesitant than ever to buy into the rally.

The corporate buyback binge continues at full tilt. But, perhaps with good reason, investors may be losing faith in its ability to propel prices.
