The Dow advanced 56 to close at 17,947, the S&P dropped a point at 2,101 and the Nasdaq fell 32 to end the week at 5,081.
Most investors know about emerging markets like Brazil and Mexico. Lesser known are the so-called frontier markets such as Argentina, Pakistan, Botswana, Ukraine and Vietnam. As frontier economies grow, they become emerging markets and then eventually developed markets like the UK and France.
Biotech shares have been on a tear the past 3 years and the momentum has only accelerated in 2015. The Nasdaq Biotechnology Index has risen 24% this year. At this time last year, the index was up 10% and finished the year up 32%. The biotech index has nearly quadrupled over the past 3 years.
