Maureen Miller Brosnan, Executive Director of Michigan Venture Capital Association (MVCA), provides Chris with a status update on the MVCA and the state of the venture capital industry within the state of Michigan. She speaks on how the industry is picking up statewide, but also on the national level.
She points out the growth of the sector because of the rise of early stage startups, and the opportunities that are created through innovation. They discuss the activity MVCA has been active in around the state, regionally, nationally and internationally. Some of the recent destinations have been Ohio, Illinois, California and China. Maureen notes how the MVCA is well known and accepted in China, due to the Governor’s work, the auto industry and entrepreneurs who have been doing business in China. She gives an update on the newest member to her organization, Molly Theis, who is the Event Manager, and who is preparing for their single largest annual gathering of venture capitalists in the State of Michigan.
