LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan Avenue construction project has entered a new phase, with lane reductions planned from Pennsylvania Avenue east to the University of Michigan Health-Sparrow pedestrian bridge.

Access will be maintained to UM Health-Sparrow Lansing, and all emergency services will remain operational. Patients and visitors are advised to expect significant delays, though, and to use rear entrances on Eureka and Jerome streets when possible to access UM Health-Sparrow Lansing, the UM Health-Sparrow Professional Building and Herbert-Herman Cancer Center.

For detailed access routes to hospital facilities, visit UofMHealthSparrow.org/news/navigating-michigan-avenue-construction.

“Our top priority is ensuring our patients and team members can access our facilities safely and with little to no stress,” said Ann Marie Creed, president of UM Health-Sparrow Lansing.

Michigan Avenue will remain fully closed from the pedestrian bridge east to Holmes Street. During this period, eastbound traffic on Michigan Avenue will be detoured north on Pennsylvania Avenue, east on Saginaw Street and south on Howard Street. Westbound traffic will be detoured north on Homer Street, west on Grand River/Oakland Avenue and south on Pennsylvania Avenue.

The overall project is scheduled for completion in late fall, weather permitting.
