as Hospital Donation Liaison Champion by Gift of Life Michigan
LANSING, Mich. – University of Michigan Health-Sparrow Lansing Neuro-Trauma Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Manager Christine Wilson, BSN, R.N., was recently named the 2025 Hospital Donation Liaison Champion by Gift of Life Michigan.
Wilson was one of 14 individuals and four partner organizations, hospitals and health centers to be recognized for their extraordinary efforts to help fulfill the wishes of donors and their families at an event in Detroit on Friday, May 2.
Wilson, a nurse at UM Health-Sparrow Lansing for more than 25 years, has dedicated her life to supporting patients and their families during some of their most vulnerable moments. As a hospital donation liaison, she guides patients, families and team members through the deeply emotional organ donation process.
“They’re at their most vulnerable time in their lives, and we have the chance to make that time not so traumatic,” Wilson said. “I have the unique opportunity to sit with families, learn about who their loved one was, and help them see that their legacy continues; that their life doesn’t end, it transforms into hope for another.”
For Wilson, the mission is personal. Her father passed away while waiting for a lung transplant.
“Gift of Life has always held a special place in my heart,” said Wilson. “Not many people have the opportunity to see firsthand how powerful organ donation truly is. Seeing someone give hope to another family—that’s really precious.”
In recognition of donors, UM Health-Sparrow Lansing recently unveiled a Memorial Tree in the hospital lobby, where families can see the names of their loved ones honored for years to come.
“It’s important for families to know their loved one’s importance to this world didn’t stop on that day,” Wilson said.
