Tri-County Alliance: Legislature Must Focus on Funding and Flexibility

tcalogo-1

LANSING – The Tri-County Alliance for Public Education today released the following statement from Mark Greathead, Superintendent of Woodhaven-Brownstown Schools and TCA President, regarding school reopening plans.

“School administrators have been hard at work and trying to do the impossible for more than a month by planning to reopen our schools safely and successfully without the guidance we asked from Lansing. Unfortunately, lawmakers now appear in a rush to identify last-minute work-arounds to save face, but still without listening to what educators actually need. At this late stage, schools need two things from Lansing: funding and flexibility. Anything else will only saddle schools with more burdens than they already face and make implementing our plans all the more difficult. It’s time for Lansing to either follow the lead of educators and help with our efforts or get out of the way and let us do what’s best for Michigan’s students.”
