Traverse City, Mich. — Readers of USA Today named two Traverse City winery inns as the top two in the country. The USA TODAY 10BEST Readers’ Choice Awards today announced that the Inn at Black Star Farms took the top award as the Best Wine Country Hotel, while the Chateau Chantal Inn came in at number two.
USA Today regularly surveys its readers on the popularity of a wide variety of topics, including travel, food, beverage, and lifestyles. The nominations are curated by a group of experts in the field, and then readers are given 28 days to vote on their favorites.
Although it is not unheard of to have two candidates from the same location, it is rare for those nominations to finish in the top two slots. “It’s quite remarkable that USA TODAY 10BEST readers voted the Inn at Black Star Farms and Chateau Chantal – both on the Traverse Wine Coast – as the top two wine country hotels in the U.S. for 2025,” said Maggie Tyner, Editor of the USA TODAY 10BEST Readers’ Choice Awards. “This recognition is a testament to the charm of Michigan’s wine country.”

Both inns have previously finished in first place on the wine hotel top ten list, but this is the first time they finished together in the top two positions.
