EAST LANSING, Mich. – After canceling the 2020 Run for the House due to COVID-19 and hosting a virtual and open-course option in 2021, the 2022 Ronald McDonald House of Mid-Michigan Run for the House will be taking place in person. Michigan State University Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU), the Run’s title sponsor, will host the 5K and kids races on Sunday, March 20 in East Lansing, Michigan. The Virtual 10K, 5K, and kids race open-course options are also available virtually from Friday, March 18 to Sunday, March 20.

Runners attending the in-person event will race on the trails at MSUFCU’s Headquarters on West Road in East Lansing, a picturesque campus with ample open space and a safe race route.

“MSUFCU has been involved with the Ronald McDonald House of Mid-Michigan since 2013. We are proud to be the title sponsor again this year and elated to bring back the excitement of an in-person race,” said Chelsea Schaberg, MSUFCU’s Vice President of Human Resources and Ronald McDonald House of Mid-Michigan Board Member. “We look forward to hosting runners, walkers, and volunteers to support the amazing work the House does in our community.

Since 2000, Run for the House has helped raise awareness of the House and bring in donations to ensure the House can continue to provide a home-away-from-home to families with hospitalized children at Lansing-area hospitals and clinics. The Run also provides an opportunity for families who previously stayed at the House to reunite with House staff, volunteers, fellow families, and other supporters.

Ashlie Helmer, who stayed at the House twice when her children were hospitalized and has served on our Run committee for years, will be attending this year’s Run for the House with her now 11-year-old son, Carson, and 15-year-old daughter, Mya.

“I love supporting and giving back to the House because they were there when we needed them most and I know how these families feel being away from home, with nothing normal around you,” said Helmer. “Everyone’s support for The House directly impacts our local friends, family, neighbors, and loved ones. It’s the best organization I have ever had the privilege of supporting! My family is honored to be attending and participating in The Run for House again this year and I can’t wait to see you all there!”

The in-person 2022 Run for the House will begin at 10 a.m. on Sunday, March 20, with an open start line through 10:20 a.m. Online registration is open for the race until the morning of the in-person event. More information on Run for the House registration can be found onRunSignUp.

To continue the House’s commitment to keeping families safe while keeping them close, COVID-19 protocols will be in place during the in-person race. It is requested that all attendees wear a mask before and after the race, with runners/walkers permitted to remove their masks during the race. More information is available on theHouse’s websiteand onRunSignUp.
