(Lansing, MI) – The completion of The Gathering Place at Sparrow has created a dramatic new look and feel to Sparrow’s main campus in downtown Lansing. Most importantly, the striking new 4,000-square-foot addition offers visitors a dining experience that represents a major shift from the traditional hospital food service operation. Clark Construction served as Construction Managers for The Gathering Place project as well as an additional 17,000-square foot renovation at Sparrow.
“It has been a real privilege for our team to lead the construction of a facility that represents the new food service experience in the hospital setting,’ said Dave Reece, Senior Vice President at Clark Construction. “When visitors enter The Gathering Place, they won’t even feel as if they are in a hospital.”
The Gathering Place can accommodate 500 customers, double that of the current cafeteria, and has six venues with different types of food. Unlike the traditional hospital cafeteria, meals at The Gathering Place are cooked individually. The facility also features a private kitchen that will host community education events. The opening of The Gathering Place will allow the old cafeteria built in the basement of the hospital in the 1980s to be phased out and used for other purposes.
