Since 1953, Detroit Autorama has delivered a full-throttle experience that feels like stepping into a world of imagination, featuring cars that are transformed from machines into rolling pieces of art shaped by vision, patience, and passion. Each year, in partnership with Summit Racing Equipment and the International Show Car Association (ISCA), Detroit Autorama hosts Student Career Day on Friday, February 27, 2026. This interactive educational program is designed to introduce students to the wide range of career opportunities within the automotive and aftermarket industries.
Launched in 2006, the Student Career Day Program was created to support school automotive education programs by connecting students with industry leaders, educators, and hands-on experiences that showcase real-world career paths. The program is held at select AutoRama, World of Wheels, and Cavalcade of Customs events across the country and has helped thousands of students explore futures in automotive-related fields.
The program welcomes chaperoned high school and college students studying automotive-related curricula, as well as those in design, engineering, manufacturing, marine, motorcycle, small engine technology, and welding. Students participate in an engaging morning program that includes guest speakers, sponsor presentations, interactive exhibits, and prize drawings. Following the general session, attendees are given an exclusive preview of the show floor before it opens to the public, allowing them to meet car builders and owners, explore exhibits, and connect with representatives from local colleges and technical schools to learn about programs and scholarship opportunities.
