Bloomberg Television’s The American Dream Features Mark McDaniel & Cinnaire

The story of Cinnaire and Mark McDaniel will be featured on an episode of The American Dream on The Bloomberg Network, this Saturday, Oct. 10 at 5:30 p.m.

 The American Dream is a nationally broadcast series hosted by Eric Roberts that inspires audiences with the stories of successful organizations’ humble beginnings and delves into each entrepreneur’s journey. Organizations featured in previous episodes include KFC, Jersey Mike’s, Subzero, Veridesk and Royal Carribean. Cinnaire Launches First Jumpstart Wilmington Cohort
Cinnaire launches Jumpstart Wilmington in Delaware this week. Jumpstart is a program designed to help local residents become developers of their own neighborhoods through quality, community-focused real estate development training and financing options. Our first cohort received more than 120 applications for the first 15 spots. Cinnaire’s program is modeled after the original Jumpstart Germantown Program, which was created by Ken Weinstein to facilitate the revitalization of the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia through high-quality residential renovations.
 
 
CDFI Fund Announces Community Development Awards
The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund has awarded Cinnaire $825,750 in grants through the 2020 round of the CDFI Program. The award will advance Cinnaire’s work bringing capital, development capacity and expertise to communities and people in need, especially those often left out of the economic mainstream. The CDFI Fund recently awarded more than $204 million to support economic growth in low-income and economically distressed communities across the nation.
 
 
Advancing Communities Podcast: Prosperity Now CEO Gary Cunningham- Closing the Racial Wealth Divide
In the latest episode of Cinnaire’s Advancing Communities Podcast, Jim talks with Gary Cunningham, President and CEO of Prosperity Now. Prosperity Now is a national coalition of African American CDFIs committed to closing the racial wealth divide and dismantling systemic racial and economic disparities. Gary shares his experience and perspective on the challenges Black owned businesses face in access to capital and technical assistance; Prosperity Now’s multi-faceted approach to addressing the history of racism in lending at the federal, state and local government levels and the many ways COVID-19 has emphasized the economic inequalities and transfer of wealth in communities of color.
 
 
Cinnaire Named Cool Place to Work by Crain’s Detroit Business
For the seventh consecutive year, Cinnaire has been named one of Crain’s Detroit Business Cool Places to Work in Michigan. With Michigan offices in Lansing, Detroit, and Grand Rapids, Cinnaire is ranked #82 out of 100 organizations on the 2020 Cool Places List. The Cool Places to Work roster is a statewide survey created in 2012 and compiled annually by Crain’s and Best Companies Group.  It was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Michigan, benefiting the state’s economy, its workforce and businesses.
 
 
Cinnaire Solutions & Allen Neighborhood Center Join Forces to Revitalize Lansing’s Eastside
After more than 21 years of providing food and health related services to Lansing residents, the Allen Neighborhood Center is undertaking a major rebuild. Cinnaire Solutions and ANC have partnered to raise a total of $11 million to support the project, resulting in the creation of 14 full-time jobs. Since 2018, Cinnaire Solutions, the in-house development affiliate of Cinnaire, has partnered with ANC Holdings LLC, to generate funding and bring about this comprehensive development project. Cinnaire has invested $5.9 million to support the rehabilitation and significant expansion of the ANC to create Allen Place, a project at the intersection of food, health, housing and energy innovation. Cinnaire Lending provided a $300,000 predevelopment loan to support the vital first steps toward making this project a reality.
 
 
Cinnaire Announces Two Key Appointments – Zina Risk Named President, Lending; Yulonda Byrd Named President, Develop Michigan Inc.
Cinnaire has announced the promotion of Zina Risk as President, Cinnaire Lending. Zina brings more than 25 years of finance and lending experience to the role, serving most recently as Vice President, Cinnaire Lending. She has played a key role in developing strategies for Cinnaire Lending products and establishing best practices for the organization’s underwriting process. Zina has worked closely with borrowers, investors, loan participants and several other key partners during her tenure.
 
 
Yulonda Byrd has been named President of Develop Michigan Inc., effective November 1, 2020. Yulonda has played an instrumental role in the deployment and management of capital in the Develop Michigan Real Estate Fund, serving first as Asset Manager and currently as an Underwriter. Yulonda is well known for her creativity, determination and calm as she goes about the work of having a significant positive impact on communities in Michigan.
