Chris talks with Tony Vernaci, Vice President of Global Business Development, MEDC. Tony is just getting back to town after 12 days in Europe. The visit began by the MEDC hosting a Global Business Summit at the Mercedes Benz Museum in Stuttgart, Germany. This event was strategically organized just as they have done with two previous summits in India last year.
- There were over 70 attendees to the conference representing 40 companies from Western Europe (most from Germany)
- Executives from Hutchinson, Kostal North America, Eberspaecher and Head of Supply Chain Management for Michigan State University all traveled to Germany to participate as panelists at the summit
- The event was sponsored by Consumers Energy and also supported by Clayton McKervey, Baker Tilly and Duff & Phelps who also had representatives participating as panelist
- The main purpose for the event was to target key suppliers for European companies with a presence in Michigan to promote business opportunities in the state.
- Primary industry focus was for automotive / aerospace and the crossover opportunities
- Our team came home with more than a dozen leads of various types from some wanting to set up a manufacturing operation to others considering a representative office to start
