The topic for today in Something to Think About, is “When in Doubt Regulate, Don’t Try to Legislate – the EPA on Steroids.” The Environmental Protection Agency has been in overdrive this year, issuing new regulations for power plants, airlines, natural gas production, diesel trucks, and even wood burning stoves.
The EPA claims the new regulations are under their authority provided by the Clean Air Act and passed by Congress years ago. In many cases, states and various industries have already filed suits to block the regulations. What are the new regulations? Are they really necessary? What are the consequences for the economy? Should these regulations really be incorporated in new legislation instead?
