Senators Stabenow and Peters Announce Funding for Terminal Improvements at Cherry Capital Airport

Funding Made Possible by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act 

TRAVERSE CITY, MI – U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow (MI) and Gary Peters (MI) today announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will be awarding Cherry Capital Airport $5,225,000 in federal funding to replace 5 passenger boarding bridges that have reached the end of their useful life. This funding is from the Airport Terminal Program. Senators Stabenow and Peters secured these funds in the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. 

“Having reliable and safe air service is crucial for tourism, commerce, and economic development,” said Senator Stabenow. “This funding is another critical piece of the infrastructure investments coming to our state and will improve customer experiences at our airports.” 

“Cherry Capital Airport is critical to Northern Michigan’s economy and tourism,” said Senator Peters. “I’m proud to have helped enact the bipartisan infrastructure law that made this funding possible to invest in new infrastructure that will help ensure safe, reliable air travel.” 

The Airport Terminal Program is one of three aviation programs created by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The law provides $1 billion annually for five years for Airport Terminal grants.

Senators Stabenow and Peters Announce Funding for Terminal Improvements at Detroit Metro Wayne County Airport 

Funding Made Possible by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act 

DETROIT, MI – U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow (MI) and Gary Peters (MI) today announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will be awarding Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport $6,000,000 in federal funding to replace more than 100 passenger loading bridges that have reached the end of their useful life. This funding is from the Airport Terminal Program. Senators Stabenow and Peters secured these funds in the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. 

“Having reliable and safe air service is crucial for tourism, commerce, and economic development,” said Senator Stabenow. “This funding is another critical piece of the infrastructure investments coming to our state and will improve customer experiences at our airports.” 

“Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport is a major national and international hub for transporting travelers, delivering goods, and connecting businesses,” said Senator Peters. “I was proud to help enact the bipartisan infrastructure law that made this federal funding possible to invest in new infrastructure that is important to our economy and will help ensure safe, reliable travel.”

Funding Made Possible by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act 

HILLSDALE, MI – U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow (MI) and Gary Peters (MI) today announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will be awarding Hillsdale Municipal Airport $2,500,000 in federal funding to build a new terminal. The new terminal will be more accessible, ADA compliant, and energy efficient. This funding is from the Airport Terminal Program. Senators Stabenow and Peters secured these funds in the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. 

“Having reliable and safe air service is crucial for tourism, commerce, and economic development,” said Senator Stabenow. “This funding is another critical piece of the infrastructure investments coming to our state and will improve customer experiences at our airports.” 

“Michigan airports play a key role in keeping travelers, communities, and business connected to important markets and destinations by providing safe, reliable air travel,” said Senator Peters. “I’m proud have helped enact the bipartisan infrastructure law that made this funding possible to construct a new, modernized terminal at Hillsdale Municipal Airport that is not only energy efficient but ADA compliant and accessible for travelers.”
