sba100

The House Republicans unanimously elected Blaine Luetkemeyer to serve as the Ranking Member of the House Small Business Committee in addition to serving as Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Consumer Protection and Financial institutions. He also serves on the House Financial Services Committee.

As the Ranking Member, Luetkemeyer, (left) is dedicated to defending Main Street America from government regulations and extensive overreach while still providing responsible government assistance for the Paycheck Protection Program and other lending programs.

He has been representing Missouri’s 3rd District since 2009, and from 1999 to 2005, he was elected to the Missouri State House of Representatives. During that time, he served as Chairman of the Financial Services Committee and was elected to be the House Republican Caucus Chairman. After leaving office, he was appointed by Governor Matt Blunt to serve as Director of the Missouri Division of Tourism.

Earlier in his career, he served as a bank regulator for the state of Missouri, and he has been in the banking and insurance industries for more than 30 years. Additionally, he is a small businessman himself with a strong background in agriculture.

As a graduate of Lincoln University in Jefferson City, MO, he earned a degree with distinction in political science and a minor in business administration. Luetkemeyer is a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Eldon Chamber of Commerce, and the Missouri Farm Bureau. He and his wife have three children and six grandchildren.

Update – Meet the New House Chair Part Two

We wish to clarify our reporting as we have received additional information since the release of the SBA Hot Topic Tuesday article. Luetkemeyer will not be the Chair of the House Small Business Committee.

  1. The Speaker of the House is unclear after Congressman Kevin McCarthy did not get a majority on the first three ballots.
  2. Luetkemeyer is confirmed to not be the Chair of the House Small Business Committee because he must choose between the Small Business Committee and the Financial Services Committee.
  3. Until the speaker shift vote is resolved, the House Small Business Committee Chair will remain unconfirmed.
