(Detroit) – The Romulus Police Association announced today that they are endorsing Independent gubernatorial candidate Mike Duggan for Governor.
This endorsement marks Duggan’s 24th endorsement from a labor union.
“Mike Duggan’s history of advocating for law enforcement made this an easy choice for us. We’re honored to endorse him in his campaign for Governor, and we’re looking forward to seeing more and more Michiganders hear his message and come on board,” said Jacob Phelps of RPA.
The Romulus Police Association represents all patrol officers in the Romulus Police Department. The City of Romulus has a population of about 25,000 residents.
“Supporting law enforcement was a pillar of the work I did as mayor of Detroit. When other members of my party called to defund police, I worked together with the city’s police department to find ways to make public safety reliable again. As governor, I’ll continue toward that same goal, and I thank the Romulus Police Association for trusting in me as the candidate for public safety,” Duggan said.
The Romulus Police Association joins several other law enforcement and public safety unions in supporting Duggan, including the Detroit Firefighters Association, Detroit Police Lieutenants & Sergeants Association, Detroit Police Officers Association, Grand Rapids Police Officers Association, Michigan Professional Fire Fighters Union, and Oakland County Deputy Sheriffs Association.
