It’s getting harder and harder to graduate college without taking on student loans. Nearly 70% of bachelor’s degree recipients leave school with debt, according to the White House, and that could have major consequences for the economy.

A proxy for layoffs across the U.S. pointed to one of the healthiest labor markets in decades, as the number of U.S. workers who applied for new unemployment benefits declined to the lowest level since the early 1970s.
