LANSING, Mich. – After six years in Lansing and the past two in REO Town Marketplace, Amy McMeeken of Vintage Junkies decided it was time for a change of scenery – not too drastic, just a different angle of REO Town’s iconic stacks. Vintage Junkies reopened in its new location at 1133 S. Washington Ave. over the weekend, on July 25. Vintage Junkies prides itself on offering everyday vintage for the modern home. Owner McMeeken combines her love for history and the environment by hand-picking each vintage piece in the showroom.
“Incorporating something old into your decor or style sets you apart from the box store life,” McMeeken said. As the business continues to grow, the new storefront offers more space for new (old) things – especially its curated furniture inventory. McMeeken looks forward to thriving in the new space. “The Lansing community means everything to me. Thanks to the community and other business owners’ support, Vintage Junkies has really flourished the past couple of years,” McMeeken said. “I’m using the additional space to help give back to those who’ve supported me. I’m looking forward to offering fresh florals from local farms and featuring local artists at the shop.”
McMeeken hopes to add a few employees to the Vintage Junkies payroll and truly become a staple in the Lansing community.
“Vintage Junkies has changed so much in the past six years,” McMeeken said. “I’m looking forward to continuing to flex and transform as the city does. I’m finally in my dream space.”
Vintage Junkies is encouraging the following COVID-19 precautions: patrons are asked to maintain a 6 foot distance between each other; masks are required; and several hand sanitizer stations are placed around the shop. To further minimize social contact, McMeeken is offering private appointments and curbside pickups – message her on Instagram or Facebook to set up an appointment or pickup.
