Technical assistance (TA) providers that offer one-on-one legal, accounting or financial advisory services to Michigan entrepreneurs may be eligible for the State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) TA Grant Program.

The MEDC is hosting an informational webinar on May 17, from 2 – 3 p.m. for entities interested in applying for the SSBCI TA Grant Program.

The webinar will provide an overview of the Program, the application process, eligibility requirements and other program details. The webinar is geared towards supporting potential applicants, including non-profit Economic Development Organizations (EDO), small business support organizations (BSO), Community Financial Institutions (CDFI), and for-profit professional service firms.

This webinar is the first in a series of important dates throughout the year for the SSBCI TA Grant Program. Below lists the current timeline for this program and its application process:

  • May 17: Pre-application webinar
  • May 22: Application window opens
  • June 23: Application window closes
  • June 23-July 14: Application review
  • Late July: Anticipated application status notifications
  • Late July-Early August: Anticipated announcement of TA providers
  • Fall: Anticipated time for background reviews, grant agreement execution and disbursement of funds

The SSBCI TA Grant Program prioritizes services from TA providers that will meet program goals and serve businesses owned by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals and very small businesses.

Eligible TA providers may apply for a minimum of $135,000 and a maximum of $2,500,000 in funding. Final awards will be based on the detailed budget TA providers submit and their expectations around factors such as how many businesses they will serve, how long engagements will last, the scope of services and the geographic area.

For those who can’t join the live webinar, a recording will be available on michiganbusiness.org. Please also feel free to email SSBCITAgrant@michigan.org with any questions before or after the webinar.

Thank you, and we hope to see you soon!
