Chris Holman talks with Bob Pachla, President of Powertrain Integration. They discuss how and why he founded his company in 2004, and why there is a need to fill a void in niche markets. Bob talks about his partnership with General Motors, their commitment to quality and international expansion into China.
Key points about this special visit include:
Powertrain Integration hosted Zhengzhou Yutong Bus Co. Ltd of China officials in Michigan last month!
- Zhengzhou Yutong Bus Co. Ltd. of China is the world’s largest manufacturer of buses, and has come to the engine supplier for their new shuttle bus, Powertrain Integration, for two weeks of training focused on the GM 6.0L engine.
- Yutong identified Powertrain Integration as a resource for these engines based on the company’s capabilities and expertise in the integration of GM products for the on-highway market for industry-leading companies including General Dynamics, Thomas Built Buses and Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation.
- Powertrain and Yutong have been working together since mid-2013 on the engine for the new T7 shuttle bus which was announced in May at the China Beijing International Exhibition of Buses, Trucks and Components as the first gasoline-fueled shuttle buses to be produced in China.
- Yutong is receiving extensive training at Powertrain Integration and will return to China to train Yutong service technicians. This is an example of Powertrain’s ongoing service and support commitment to customers around the world.
