
Colliers Lansing helps secure spaces despite low vacancy rates
LANSING, Mich. – Colliers Lansing helped bring two new businesses to the Lansing area. In Lansing and across Michigan, flex spaces are in high demand but are lacking in supply. Flex space allows companies to combine office and warehouse needs in a way that best suits their use.
Gumseat Productions, a screen-printing company, and Wilkins Floorcovering, a residential and commercial flooring service, recently leased space in the Lansing area.
“With very few flex properties in the area, we were happy that both of these businesses were able to secure locations,” said Julie O’Brien, Vice President at Colliers Lansing. “As the market remains tight, we work diligently to promote our flex listings for maximum visibility.”
Gumseat Productions is a family-owned custom apparel company that does traditional screen printing and embroidery for local businesses, schools, and special events. The 2,000-square-foot suite at 4291 Veterans Drive in Holt will allow the business to move from Gaylord to Lansing and quicken its turnaround time for orders.
“We really couldn’t have found a better spot for our first commercial space,” said Stephan Kwapis, owner of Gumseat Productions.
After searching for nearly a year Gumseat was able to find the right fit and will take occupancy in early June.
“It’s currently a competitive market for flex space, with very little inventory out there,” said Kelli McCardel with McCardel Restoration.
McCardel is the landlord at 4150 Hunsaker Drive in East Lansing, where Wilkins Floorcovering recently opened its first Lansing location. Upon discovering the property, Wilkins was quick to secure the space knowing how difficult it was to find after looking for almost a year.
