Hello West Michigan – West Michigan’s largest intern event goes virtual

Hello West Michigan, the regional talent attraction and retention organization behind West Michigan Intern Connect, is switching the annual in person event to a virtual half-day professional development conference for local interns Thursday, June 18, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The program, now in its seventh year, aims to help interns connect with the community, their peers and local employers. The goal of the program is to attract and retain talented young graduates in West Michigan. Topics covered during the conference will include creating positive mindset for communication, how to make remote work for you, and adulting. Tickets for Intern Connect cost $20 and can be purchased up to the date of the event. Interns can register individually by clicking here. Hello West Michigan officials are available to discuss the rise of remote internships and how colleges and companies are transitioning to this model.

orvOrVance – FDA, FTA and U.S. Customs respond to Grand Rapids company’s trade complaint about misbranded dental products

More than 100 dentists and orthodontists from around the nation who last week joined a GR-based dental products manufacturer to file a trade complaints to FDA, FTC and U.S. Customs regarding misbranded dental wax have heard from all three federal agencies acknowledging they intend to investigate/follow up in some capacity. Dental professionals and OrVance’s Ron Schutt can be made available to discuss the matter. Ron is the CEO of Grand Rapids dental product manufacturer OrVance, LLC. The company, along with more than 100 orthodontist and dentists across the U.S. are expressing concern about the importing, repackaging and distribution of misbranded dental wax, which is commonly-used by individuals who wear braces. The coalition is seeking authorities to investigate certain companies (listed in this letter) responsible to ensure they comply with regulations and are not misleading consumers or causing them harm.
