MMDC Update: Michigan Small Business Relief Program

MMDC logoA message from Middle Michigan Development Corporation’s Jim McBryde

As of Tuesday afternoon, March 31st, MMDC, the Middle Michigan Development Corporation has received an overwhelming response to the Michigan Small Business Relief Program with over 350 applications already in from Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot and Isabella Counties. The deadline for submitting applications is tomorrow, April 1, at 5 pm and no submissions will be accepted after that. By way of reminder, eligible small businesses in our four-county area are limited to those businesses outlined in Governor Whitmer’s Executive Order 2020-20Also, you will find our application at the following link: https://form.jotform.com/200855402355147.We are administering this state grant program on behalf of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) for Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot and Isabella Counties. We have received many questions from applicants wondering if applying for the Michigan Small Business Relief Program will exclude them from applying for federal grants or loans. This program is not a federal program and applying for a grant or loan through this program does not impact your eligibility to apply for federal funding. Again, the deadline for this grant program (April 1 at 5 pm) does not apply to the federal programs which are available at this time. If you have any questions about the Michigan Small Business Relief Program or are looking for alternative funding sources, please feel free to contact our office at (989) 772-2858 or at: info@mmdc.org.

Additional COVID-19 outbreak resources for you and your business can be found here: https://mmdcblog.org/coronavirus-covid-19-resources-for-your-business/.

We also encourage small businesses to reach out to the Mid Michigan Region Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at https://sbdcmichigan.org/mid-michigan-region/ for further resources and support.

Please keep yourself and your business safe!
