Some of the state’s most rural communities out-performed the state in wages, but in some ways they’re still playing a game of catch-up. Michigan as a whole, saw wages go up 3 percent between 1990 and 2013.
DTE Energy is moving forward with a roughly 1.1-megawatt solar energy installation just outside the Ann Arbor city limits. The 4,000-plus photovoltaic panels going up along the north side of the U.S. 23 and M-14 interchange in Ann Arbor Township will be the largest solar array in Michigan, enough to power about 185 average-size homes, according to DTE.
Operators of a 63-year-old coal-fired passenger ferry that carries people and cars across Lake Michigan between Wisconsin and Michigan have made the necessary environmental improvements to keep the vintage vessel in service, U.S. regulators announced.
