Governor Whitmer joined the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) on August 16 to announce that Tier 1 auto and material handling manufacturer Grand Traverse Plastics is expanding to Whitewater Township with support from the Michigan Strategic Fund, creating up to 43 jobs.
“This expansion in Whitewater Township cements GTP’s presence in Northern Michigan and adds momentum to our efforts to ensure Michigan’s manufacturers lead the way in Industry 4.0 technologies and workforce needs. With the help of companies like GTP, we can build back our state’s economy stronger than ever,” said Whitmer.
Grand Traverse Plastics Corporation focuses on creating engineered, plastic, under-the-hood components for battery systems, engines, and transmissions along with conveyor support components. This expansion will increase the manufacturers growth in the automotive and mobility space, bringing light to industry 4.0 and technology in rural Michigan.
