MIBA Newsletter, Looking Back at February 2023

February has been a busy, but exciting, month for the MIBA!  Not only have we seen a couple of innovative Israeli companies locate or expand their teams in Michigan, but we are also thrilled to be back in Israel for our first delegation of the year. We are proud to host Michigan Health Tech leaders – from both the public and private sectors –  for a week of educational and cultural experiences. Both the delegate list and the itinerary are very strong, and no doubt will result in connections between Israel and Michigan that will lead to better health outcomes and impactful business opportunities.  We can’t wait to share the results of this delegation with you.  The news here in Michigan is just as exciting as Israeli firms continue to find Michigan to be a good place for their business. GuardKnoxwhich develops firmware and software components for the automotive sector, has officially established its US entity in Michigan and has expanded its engineering team. Civan Lasers has hired a Michigan-based Head of US Operations and is looking to expand its team this year.  We continue to make progress on our new initiative that we will share with you in the coming weeks. This project will give Michigan an important new tool as we look to bring Israeli innovation to the area.  Stay tuned! Your Partner in INNOVATION, The MIBA

Israeli Advanced Manufacturing Innovator Visits Detroit Area

Three senior employees from SkillReal, an Israeli startup looking to disrupt the way quality inspections are taking place on the manufacturing line, visited the Detroit area in February.  SkillReal uses off-the-shelf cameras installed on the production line to create an interactive and extremely accurate digital twin that identifies quality issues in real-time – allowing operators to make the proper adjustments as the product is being manufactured.  This avoids costly waste and production errors that might not be found until later in the process.  SkillReal braved the roads during the Detroit area’s heaviest snowstorm of the season to meet with potential customers GM and KUKA as well as ecosystem partners at the Centrepolis I4.0 Accelerator and Automation Alley.  SkillReal is making a second visit in early March to meet with investors and potential business development representatives in this area.
SkillReal’s Nir Yaakobi takes a moment to enjoy the heavy snowfall during their February visit.
