Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commission of Mid-Michigan; received $182,500 in donations at check presentation Friday, Jan. 17, 2025

To kick off the 2025 MLK Day of Celebration activities, eight local businesses donated $182,500 to the DrMartin Luther King Jr. Commission of Mid-Michigan Friday, Jan. 17 to support the commission’s work to promote equality, diversity and social justice.

WHO:              – East Lansing City Manager Robert Belleman
– Elaine Hardy, chair, DrMartin Luther King Jr. Commission of Mid-Michigan

– Commissioners of the DrMartin Luther King Jr. Commission of Mid-Michigan

– Representatives from donor organizations:

      • Cinnaire – $50,000
      • MacDonald Broadcasting – $50,000
      • Jackson – $20,000
      • Michigan State University Federal Credit Union – $15,000
      • LAFCU – $15,000
      • Lake Trust Credit Union – $12,500
      • CASE Credit Union – $10,000
      • Dean Transportation – $10,000

WHEN:            Friday, Jan. 17, 2025 at 11 a.m.

WHERE:           Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce, 500 E. Michigan Ave., Suite 200, Lansing, MI, 48912. The Chamber is in the Stadium District Building. Complimentary parking is available at the rear of the building.

About the 2025 Day of Celebration

The MLK Commission of Mid-Michigan hosts the nation’s largest MLK luncheon event each year in honor of DrMartin Luther King Jr. Among other festivities, this year’s event will feature Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist II joining keynote speaker Dr. Bernard LaFayette Jr. for a fireside conversation.
