MichAuto Kicks Off Statewide Automobility Policy Roadmap Project

Last week, ahead of the Michigan Automotive Suppliers Symposium, MichAuto launched its broader statewide effort, in partnership with Plante Moran, a MichAuto investor, to develop the MichAuto Automobility Policy Roadmap. This forward-looking policy roadmap will strengthen Michigan’s role as America’s center of automotive and mobility innovation. MichAuto was proud to sponsor the Symposium, which addressed the challenges and opportunities shaping the automotive and mobility world today and tomorrow, making it a timely opportunity to launch the policy roadmap project.

The project comes as Michigan confronts rapid changes driven by electrification, advanced manufacturing, AI, and evolving global supply chains, while facing increased competition from China and southern U.S. states vying to lead in next-generation mobility.

As the first in a series of statewide roundtables that are integral to the policy roadmap, MichAuto gathered more than 60 leaders from across Grand Rapids and West Michigan to discuss strategies for maintaining Michigan’s global automotive and mobility leadership.

Your Voice is Needed: Help Shape the Policy Roadmap

MichAuto is launching Step 1 to validate the research-based policy framework. As mobility rapidly evolves, input from business, education, and policy spheres is needed. The following 30-minute feedback form provides an opportunity to directly inform the policy roadmap, while confirming alignment, identifying gaps, and refining the framework as roundtables and interviews progress.

From the Classroom to the Assembly Line

Last week, MichAuto hosted a Discover Auto tour at Dakkota Integrated Systems, a MichAuto investor, and gave high school students in the University of Detroit Mercy’s dual‑enrollment program an inside look at how the Dodge Durango’s instrument panel comes to life on the manufacturing floor. From HR to IT to Sales, students heard directly from company leaders and saw how many opportunities exist in today’s automotive industry.

Thank you to MichAuto Talent and Awareness Committee member Todd Fairbairn from Dakkota Integrated Systems and Emotiv Mobility for highlighting how every position on the assembly line helps keep vehicles safe, and how fulfilling it is for students to see the vehicles they helped create driving down the road.
