Expanding Internship Opportunities Across Michigan’s Mobility Industry

MichAuto and the Detroit Regional Chamber Foundation awarded the University of Detroit Mercy’s College of Engineering and Science a $125,000 grant to enhance internship opportunities in Michigan’s mobility industry, fostering skill development and future workforce readiness through its Readying Professionals in Mobility program.

Additionally, YouthTank Detroit’s Mobility Leadership Lab received a $90,000 grant to empower local youth through internships that equip them with vital technology and entrepreneurship skills, ensuring they actively lead in the mobility revolution.

Both programs are designed to significantly elevate capacity for internships and career exposure within the mobility industry and strengthen our talent pipeline, ensuring that critical positions are filled, fostering a thriving ecosystem where innovation and growth can flourish.

Time is Running Out

In less than two weeks, MichAuto will kick off Mobility Week with its Michigan is Automobility reception following the Center for Automotive Research Management Briefing Seminars. The event allows industry leaders to network, collaborate, and share insights on the future of the automotive and mobility industry.

Nexteer Automotive Supports Students Through Scholarship Golf Outing

On Aug. 21, MichAuto Director of Engagement Lauren Hutchison attended Nexteer’s Scholarship Golf Outing, which aimed to raise funds to provide educational opportunities for students.

Since 2014, MichAuto Investor, Nexteer, has positively impacted 167 students and awarded over $250,000 in scholarships, and in 2025 distributed 25 scholarships, demonstrating its ongoing commitment to supporting future generations of automotive leaders.
