MiCareerQuest to introduce students to jobs in the Lansing area – TODAY

MiCareerQuest Capital Area will introduce more than 3,000 students to 70 industry exhibitors

LANSING, Mich. Capital Area Michigan Works! and its T3: Teach. Talent. Thrive. council, a network ofconnected assets supporting education and talent development,is hosting the MiCareerQuest Capital Area to introduce Michigan high school students to high-demand, high-wage jobs in the Lansing area. This is the first time the event has been hosted since 2019 due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The press event will be held from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on May 19 in the Governor’s Room at the Lansing Center. Tours are also available for staff and stakeholders of partner organizations, school districts, participating employers, sponsors, and those interested in attending in future years. The socially distanced tour will depart first at 11:30 a.m. with additional tours taking place every 15 minutes until 1:30 p.m.

“High school students, now more than ever, are eager to explore what’s out there beyond high school graduation,” said Amirika Richardson, T3 education officer. “Providing students the opportunity to meet with employers is the first step to inspiring their future. We’re more than thrilled to continue this career exploration event in person for the first time since 2019.”

Photo opportunities, including the arrival of a group of students and employer displays, will be available from 10 a.m. to noon. Those interested in taking photos and videos, generating social media content or conducting interviews should check in at the Governor’s Room for assistance or email T3@camw.net for more information.

“The MiCareerQuest Capital Area is an excellent way for tri-county high school students to understand career opportunities in the area better,” said Carrie Rosingana, CAMW!’s chief executive officer. “At the same time, we’re supporting ways to fill the talent gaps now and in the future, as talent has been an ongoing issue in the past several years.”

MBN recently interviewed Rosingana about this event, watch that conversation:
