Michigan Startup WINS $1 Million Investment at Second Statewide PitchMI Competition

Adrenaline Interactive of Ann Arbor, a startup specializing in dynamic in-game advertising, was named the winner of the 2026 PitchMI competition, which saw 375 applicants from around the state.

E&I Success Story: BRCĒ

BRCĒ, a performance material startup co-founded by a pair of Michigan State University students, got off on the right foot with support from the MEDC’s E&I programs – and snagged an investment from two investors when they appeared on Shark Tank in March. When former competitive athletes Tanvi Gadamsetti and Madhav Aggarwal sought to improve the performance of shoelaces and reduce the risk of injuries, they developed a high-performance polymer-composite material for their product. SBSH - Apply Today

The Small Business Support Hubs (SBSH) 2.0 application is now open, offering a new funding opportunity to help expand and strengthen regional small business support services across Michigan. This round builds on previous work to improve access, increase coordination and elevate resources for entrepreneurs statewide. To help applicants navigate the updated program, MEDC will host an informational webinar covering application requirements, eligibility, timelines and key updates. The session includes a live Q&A, and attendees are encouraged to submit questions in advance during registration to help shape the discussion.

Northern MI Startup week is where the region’s builders, founders, investors, students and curious problem-solvers come together to turn ideas into momentum. Five days of events means there’s something for everyone. If your interest is water-tech, consider the Blue Tech Innovation Challenge, which culminates on April 20 and 21.

Michigan Leads Defense + Aerospace Trade Mission to Czechia and Poland
 
 

MEDC’s International Trade program and the Michigan Office of Defense and Aerospace Innovation (ODAI) teamed to lead a group of six Michigan small businesses to access market opportunities in Czechia and Poland March 23-27, supported by the Michigan Europe Office and led by International Trade Manager Chris Bosio. The six company participants Ares Technology, Composite Builders, Dataspeed, Globe Tech, ND Defense and Synergistic had 80 meetings with potential buyers, partners, and distributors across both countries. MEDC and ODAI established critical connections with government and Ministry counterparts in Prague and Warsaw, paving the way for future subnational engagement opportunities.
