(Detroit) – The Mechanical Contractors Association of Detroit announced today that Mike Duggan is the candidate they’re endorsing for the 2026 governor’s race.
MCA Detroit is the leading association representing mechanical and plumbing contractors in Southeast Michigan. They work to uplift the mechanical construction and service industry in the region by developing strong labor relations, educating and recruiting new contractors, ensuring safe work environments, and engaging with the government to advocate for labor-backed policy.
“MCA Detroit has a number of business initiatives such as Prompt Pay for contractors. MCA Detroit and its members believe all contractors should be paid promptly for work they have properly completed. The leadership of MCA Detroit felt he was the best candidate for Governor due to his business experience, leadership and dedication in managing a major urban city in the State of Michigan,” said Christopher Freeman, CEO of MCA Detroit.
MCA Detroit’s organizational roots go back to 1925 as the region’s mechanical contracting leadership body in the state, with its national organization dating back to 1883. They represent over 100 contractors that employ highly skilled trades professionals.
“Each organization that puts their name behind what we’re doing here is solidifying something that has been true for years; the current approach to politics isn’t doing any good to the people it’s supposed to serve. MCA Detroit has a leading vision in their industry I’m hoping to replicate for Michigan, and I’m extremely grateful for their trust in me as a candidate,” said Mike Duggan.
The association’s contractors are at the forefront of Michigan’s transition to advanced manufacturing, clean energy systems and high-tech infrastructure. They are deeply involved in forecasting workforce needs, and are well-known for their proactive approach to industry education, governance, modernization and contractor support services.
