EAST LANSING, Michigan, July 29, 2024 – The Michigan Certified Development Corporation has welcomed Shannon Gordon as its new Loan Officer for the Macomb, northeast Oakland, eastern Detroit and the Thumb region.
In his new role, Gordon will oversee marketing efforts for MCDC’s Small Business Administration 504 Loan Program by collaborating with lenders, small business owners and other stakeholders to help drive economic development in his designated regions.
Gordon (left) brings extensive experience in underwriting, commercial lending, relationship management, sales and business development to his new role with MCDC.
MCDC’s 504 program promotes business growth and job creation by providing loans to buy, build or improve land, machinery, equipment, facilities and infrastructure. The nonprofit works to match a small business with the right lender to create a package that will finance up to 90% of project costs with an attractive fixed interest rate, long amortization periods and a low down payment.
“Shannon’s experience and skillset make him an excellent addition to the MCDC team,” MCDC President Mark Williams said. “His expertise will help guide small businesses and spur economic development in these important regions of the state, creating sustainable job growth for years to come.”
Gordon owns and serves as business development and operations manager at MiCare Services of Detroit, which provides housing and support services for individuals who are veterans, disabled or experiencing homelessness.
Prior to his role with MCDC, Gordon served as the assistant vice president of small business banking at Comerica Bank in Detroit. In this role, he worked to attract, expand and retain banking relationships with small businesses, focusing on those with up to $3 million in annual revenue.
Gordon also had a variety of roles with Rocket Companies, Security Credit Union, Fifth Third Bank and PNC.
“I’m grateful for this opportunity to support Michigan’s small businesses and advance the mission of the MCDC, enhancing economic development and job growth,” Gordon said. “I look forward to building and maintaining relationships with small business owners across the state to help make their dreams become reality.”
Gordon holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Davenport University. He, his wife and five children live in Macomb County.
