LANSING, Mich.- The Michigan Bankers Association (MBA) congratulates ChoiceOne Bank on winning third place in the national Lights, Camera, Save! Video contest by the American Bankers Association (ABA) Foundation.

Michigan teen Sarah Moraw, representing MBA member bank, Sparta-based ChoiceOne Bank, took third place in the American Bankers Association Foundation’s “Lights, Camera, Save!” national video contest.

Moraw’s video, “Rappin’ Your Way to Retirement,” includes her rapping about saving for retirement with an IRA. Moraw, a student of West Ottawa High School, will receive a $1,000 cash prize to fund her savings goal. An educator from Moraw’s school will be awarded a scholarship to Jump$tart’s National Educator Conference this fall in Atlanta.

ChoiceOne Bank was one of 89 banks that hosted local levels of competition and selected a winner to represent their bank and compete nationally. The program, in its 12th year, encourages youth ages 13 to 18 to communicate the importance of good money management in a video of 30 seconds or less.

“This annual competition is one of the best ways for banks to demonstrate their commitment to teen financial education,” stated T. Rann Paynter, President & CEO, MBA. “Congratulations to ChoiceOne Bank for creating an informational video on retirement and winning third in the nation.”

Lights, Camera, Save! is a video competition that runs from Feb. 21 to March 31. This is a national contest that encourages teens to use video to communicate the value of sound money management. The competition is one of ABA Foundation’s most popular financial education programs.

The national ABA winner won a $5,000 cash prize, while the runner-up received $3,000. By winning ChoiceOne’s local competition, Moraw won $350. ChoiceOne’s runner-up, Natalie Schneider of Newaygo, Mich., received $150. Christina Weeks, of Almont, Mich., received $50 by capturing third place.
