For those of you who are unaware Steve Purdy, host of A Shunpiker’s Journal recently published a great book. Others know Steve from his efforts supporting the Automotive Heritage Awards that he was a part of presenting just before, and most of the way through, the pandemic. While they folded the tent on the awards, the foundation continues.
Both are projects of Shunpiker Productions – me.
So now, a few years on, the landscape has changed, with a new focus toward the same audience – those for whom the automobile is more than transportation; that is, those who appreciate automotive heritage – history, culture, and aesthetics. My focus now is mostly on my book MASCOTS in MOTION on sale many places but mostly on the website: www.shunpikerproductions.com
If, you’d like to continue to be part of this audience, just sit tight. If you’d not like to stay, just Reply ‘no thanks.’
The content you’ll find here will now be mostly about the book and other projects I jump into without thinking plus a few tidbits of news from our area of interest. I have other book projects on the sideboard ready to be exploited, a couple film projects, a new display at this year’s Art Prize in Grand Rapids and a plateful of other stuff. So, here are a few items for this week:
- MASCOTS BOOK – Little more than a week ago an international public relations firm in Dubai found me and the book with their proprietary AI search tool looking for interesting people doing interesting things about whom they can produce focused feature stories for A-list publications like USA Today, Bloomberg, NY Times, and that ilk. Well, within a week they researched me and the book, wrote an inspired story (which I got to edit), and they had it placed in the International Business Times (40-million unique visitors/month.) See what you think of this:
- LECTURE AND BOOK SIGNING – My next lecture and book signing is this weekend – August 16th – at the Auburn, Cord, Duesenberg Museum in Auburn, IN. They have a Saturday morning Cars & Coffee event beginning at 9 AM where I’ll be schmoozing with buyers and selling books, then at 11:00 we’ll go inside where I’ll do a lively, colorful lecture guided by a PowerPoint of many images from the book. For future visits just know: they sell my book in the gift shop as well. But, if you order it on the website I’ll inscribe it to you (or your giftee) personally.
Hope I’ll see many of you in Auburn this weekend. I may be back for the big Labor Day ACD Festival if I find opportunity. Last year I was with the swap meet out at the WorldWide Auction, and that was OK, but far from optimal.
- PODCAST WITH RM SOTHEBY’S GREG STANLEY – Finally, listen for me on the August 27th episode of the RM Sotheby’s Podcast with host Greg Stanley. It will be on You tube as well.
Join me on Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, Instagram, and remember, I’m always up for a Podcast or any other kind of interview, in addition to speaking engagements.
