Co-founder and chief executive of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, and his wife, Dr. Priscilla Chan, have announced that they would give 99% of their Facebook shares during their lifetimes.
This translates to just about $45 billion and it would all be given to charitable purposes. Zuckerberg has admired Microsoft founder Bill Gates’s as a childhood hero and, as a result, admires his philanthropic endeavors as well. Will we start to see more billionaires making the same type of decisions in the future?
