February is CTE Month!
With nearly 500,000 job openings projected in Michigan each year through 2032, Career and Technical Education (CTE) offers high school and college students hands-on learning experiences that can be applied to real-world training and career pathways.
This February, students and job seekers of all ages are encouraged to explore programs that prepare them for successful career entry, advancement and/or continuing education.
Students enrolled in state-approved CTE programs learn practical skills that help them get a job, move up in their career or continue their education in fields that are hiring and pay well.
Those interested in exploring career options, training, wages and projected openings should visit Michigan’s free online career exploration tool, Pathfinder. Additional CTE resources and information may be found on MDE’s website and LEO’s website.

Struggling to pay your bills? Help is available!
We all need a little help sometimes. Last year, hundreds of thousands of Michiganders received help from the Michigan Public Service Commission with their telephone, broadband or home energy bills or received shut off protection for their utility service.

Personalized support for individuals who are visually impaired
The Michigan Bureau of Services for Blind Persons (BSBP) provides training and services that empower people to achieve their individual goals.
If you or a loved one are blind or visually impaired, BSBP will work with you to define your goals and identify appropriate training and services.
Depending upon your needs and eligibility for specific services, BSBP may also provide some types of adaptive equipment, computer software, and postsecondary education.

Learn how to apply for UIA benefits during coaching sessions
Workers applying for jobless benefits for the first time can get online guidance from trained instructors with the Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) who will walk users through the steps they need to follow to qualify for payments.
Virtual sessions are available mornings and afternoons, Tuesday through Friday, and led by trained UIA instructors.
