The Leaning Edge welcomes Phil Garber the Training Coordinator at OMT-Veyhl to talk about how LEAN is a culture change not a one-step solution.
Phil is currently the LEAN Training Coordinator at OMT-Veyhl, where his responsibilities include communicating with managers to identify training needs and mapping out development plans for teams and individuals. He is responsible for managing, designing, developing, coordinating and conducting all training programs for OMT-Veyhl.
His experience in both education and manufacturing settings has allowed him to utilize various training methods, including on-the-job coaching, mentorship programs and leadership workshops. His diverse background in education has made him focus on culture settings within organizations. Phil leads the organization in the implementation of long-term strategic planning that involves every employee.
In the pursuit of a lean manufacturing environment, operational excellence is a high priority and focus for him. He communicates routinely with the executive leadership to develop and roll out initiatives to grow towards their future vision and goals for the company.
Phil holds a B.S. in Education, and M.Ed. degree in Adult Leadership. He is currently enrolled for his Ph.D. in Adult Leadership at Michigan State University.
