Interim senior vice president of Business Operations to continue in role
LANSING, Mich. (May 18, 2021) – LCC President Steve Robinson has formally appointed Seleana Samuel to the position of senior vice president for Business Operations, a role she has held on an interim basis since July 2020.
“Selecting Dr. Samuel for this role is one of the best decisions I have made since coming to LCC,” President Robinson said. “I am delighted to welcome her to our team on a permanent basis.”
In this role, Administrative Services, Information Technology Services, Human Resources, Marketing, Public Relations, Purchasing, Risk Management, and Legal Services, and Compliance all report directly to Samuel. The title change takes effect June 1.
In other leadership news, Shon’ta Dwyer began her role as associate dean in the college’s Technical Careers Division earlier this month. She brings to the position more than 15 years of workforce and career development experience in the tri-county area, including six years at LCC. She served as the Director of the Job Training Center in the Community Education and Workforce Division, where she was responsible for the overall operation, coordination and evaluation of non-credit workforce development offerings. Additionally, she provided leadership over LCC’s services and processes provided at the Captial Area Michigan Works! service center.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer has appointed Bo Garcia to the Michigan Board of Nursing. He will represent public members for a term that expires June 30, 2022. He is the dean of the Community Education and Workforce Development Division where he oversees Corporate Training, Small Business Development, Community Education, Continuing Education and Extension Centers.
