IT Opportunities, Talent Gap and More!

TechnologyChris welcomes back Andrea Ragan, Executive Director of the Capital Area IT Council, in Lansing, Michigan. Andrea provides an overview of the council and how they work to create thriving IT opportunities in the hub around Lansing. They discuss how connecting businesses to talent remains a high priority.

Chris then cites the newly released Michigan Future Business Index, from Accident Fund Insurance Company of America, which was being released that day and echoes that concept. Andrea stresses how technology is here to stay and how it is impacting industries not usually thought of as part of the tech sector. She points out how younger generations may know how to use tech, but that doesn’t always translate to knowing the building, diagnosing or fixing of technology. She goes on to highlights the Capital Area Tech Knowledge E-Pathways program, which has graduated another class, and will be funneling more people out into the Mid-Michigan workforce.
