Developers Break Ground on Tower on Grand, Lansing’s Tallest and Most Ambitious Residential Development

Lansing, MI — Today, New Vision Lansing welcomed city and state leaders, partners, and community leaders to commemorate the groundbreaking of Tower on Grand, a landmark 28-story apartment high-rise set to become the tallest building in Lansing and the largest downtown construction investment in more than 35 years.

A partnership between Lansing-based Gentilozzi Real Estate and Bloomfield Hills-based JFK Investment, New Vision Lansing is reimagining downtown living with a state-of-the-art rental community offering unmatched amenities and connectivity. Located steps from the State Capitol campus and minutes from Michigan State University, world-class hospital systems, and major corporate employers, Tower on Grand will deliver a new standard of urban lifestyle in Michigan’s capital city.

“Today we break ground not just on a building, but on a new era for downtown Lansing,” said John Gentilozzi, Vice President, Gentilozzi Real Estate. “Tower on Grand is the beginning of a new wave of investment, opportunity, and growth. Featuring an energy-efficient glass skin, the building not only leads its class in amenities but modern building technology as well.”

Rising more than 300 feet, Tower on Grand will provide over 330,000 square feet of premier residential, commercial, and recreational space. Residents will enjoy exclusive amenities including:

· A 20,000-square-foot outdoor amenity deck featuring green space, a hot tub, and golf and race car simulators – the latter a nod to the racing history of the Gentilozzi family

· A fitness center, yoga studio, and cold plunge

· A penthouse-level sky lounge with private dining and meeting spaces

· Secure indoor parking, direct access to the Lansing River Trail, and a Grand River-front terrace

· Retail, market, and office space at street level

· Live-work units with riverfront balconies, and three penthouse floors including two-story suites with private terraces

An enclosed pedestrian walkway over Grand Avenue will connect the tower to Washington Avenue through the historic Art Deco Atrium Building, restored by Gentilozzi Real Estate during the 1980s.

“I am incredibly excited to officially get this project underway, said Mayor Andy Schor. “We will see hundreds of new residents downtown and a new tower that will change our skyline, showing that the progress we are making to grow Lansing is working. New Vision Lansing is an incredibly important part of that future growth.”

Paul Gentilozzi, CEO reflected on his family’s deep roots in Lansing:

“Our journey began in 1960 with my father. Over 65 years and three generations, we’ve built more than one million square feet in Lansing. Today, with our great partners, the Kosik family, we begin the largest project in our history. In two years, we’ll stand atop Lansing’s tallest building — a testament to the power of vision, collaboration, and community support.”

The groundbreaking ceremony featured remarks from Paul Gentilozzi and John Gentilozzi; Lansing Mayor Andy Schor; Karl Dorshimer, President and CEO, Lansing Economic Development Corporation; State Senators Sarah Anthony and Sam Singh, State Representative Angela Witwer; and Pat Gillespie, CEO of Gillespie Group, a fellow leader in Lansing development.

“We’re proud to support what will be Lansing’s future tallest building, Tower on the Grand. A bold investment that embraces our riverfront and introduces new amenities for residents,” said Pat Gillespie, Founder and CEO of Gillespie Group. “Each new investment in development adds to the energy and momentum transforming our capital city, fueling a future of growth, innovation, and possibility in a reimagined downtown.”

Project partners Christman Company and Hobbs & Black bring decades of experience in delivering high-quality, transformational developments. Construction of the Tower will begin immediately and is expected to be completed within 27 months, with apartment leasing scheduled to start in early 2028.

More than 200 guests joined at the site on S. Grand Avenue to mark the occasion.
