(Detroit) – Clearing the dozen mark in labor endorsements, IBEW Local 58 joins eleven other labor unions in endorsing Independent candidate for Governor Mike Duggan.
“We believe Mike Duggan is the leader who can deliver for our state. Mike Duggan has
demonstrated proven leadership, strong collaboration, and a vision for bringing together
key stakeholders for growth,” said Jim Soosik, Business Manager, IBEW Local 58. “Under Mike Duggan’s leadership, the revitalization efforts, infrastructure improvements, and strong partnerships with labor and business have redefined the region.”
IBEW Local 58 represents 4,800 highly skilled electricians and limited energy
installer/technicians throughout the seven counties surrounding Metro Detroit who
energize, install, and maintain electrical and communication systems and facilities in the
Commercial, Industrial, Public and Residential market sectors.
In their endorsement letter, IBEW Local 58 stated: “Michigan needs a governor who understands that energy systems, data centers, school buildings, infrastructure, and hospitals require quality construction, oversight, and fair labor standards. Politics too often traps our state in gridlock and Mike Duggan’s independent candidacy gives him the flexibility to rise above party divisions and focus on delivering meaningful results.”
“I’m honored to have the support of IBEW Local 58 and its 4,800 skilled electricians and technicians. For years, we’ve worked side by side to rebuild Detroit’s neighborhoods, modernize our infrastructure, and create opportunities for working families,” said Duggan. “Their endorsement means a great deal because they know firsthand the results we’ve delivered together. As Governor, I’ll bring that same partnership and focus to the entire state—so every community in Michigan can see the kind of growth and revitalization we’ve proven is possible.”
