Lindman to advocate for resources and services supporting marginalized population

LANSING, Mich., March 15, 2023-Governor Gretchen Whitmer has appointed Nancy Lindman, director of public policy and partnerships at Michigan Association of United Ways (MAUW), to the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) Statewide Housing Partnership. Lindman’s role on the Statewide Housing Partnership is to represent organizations that advocate in support of access to resources and services for marginalized individuals and families.

“I’m honored to have the opportunity to support this team of like-minded individuals and provide insight on the needs of vulnerable populations in Michigan,” says Lindman. “I’m eager to work alongside fellow Partnership members to create a cohesive and collaborative strategy that will have a lasting impact on the state’s housing practices to ensure all families have a place to call home.”

The Statewide Housing Partnership was established when Governor Whitmer signed Executive Order 2022-10 and called for the creation of an advisory body within MSHDA. The partnership’s primary responsibility is to develop a strategy to implement last year’s Statewide Housing Plan, which presented opportunities for organizations to partner on common objectives such as rehabilitating and stabilizing the housing supply, reducing equity gaps and homelessness, and increasing home energy efficiency and weatherization.

“Nancy is an invaluable asset to MAUW’s mission of fighting for the health, education and financial stability of every Michigander,” says MAUW CEO Hassan Hammoud. “Between Nancy’s many years of experience and dedication to communities across the state, I am confident that Governor Whitmer has selected the right partner to fight for the marginalized individuals and families of Michigan.”
