Airplane taking off into sunset

Clear skies and big milestones are ahead for the Capital Region International Airport.

Spring is officially in the air, and if you’ve been through the terminal lately, you can feel the energy building. As the snow melts and Michigan turns green, we are gearing up for one of the most transformative seasons in our airport’s history.

Whether you are planning a spring break getaway, welcoming business partners to the region, or exploring all the travel possibilities in between, our goal remains the same: providing a seamless, stress-free travel experience.

You may notice some exciting projects taking shape around the airport. We are currently moving full steam ahead on several critical infrastructure upgrades designed to improve your experience — read on to learn about the Roadway Improvement Project and Jetbridge Fund.

Finally, I am incredibly thrilled to share that we are approaching a monumental milestone. This year marks 100 years of flight at the Capital Region International Airport. For a century, this airport has been a gateway to the world, a hub for commerce, and a proud neighbor in the #LoveLansing community. We are planning a grand Centennial Celebration event this summer to honor our history and look forward to the next century of aviation. Keep an eye on your inbox for updates.

Thank you for being part of LAN’s historic past and bright future. We’ll see you at the gate!

Fly Lansing,

Where will you LANd this summer with United Airlines? We’re thrilled to announce that beginning May 7, United will be offering four daily flights from LAN to Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD)!

This partnership brings exciting new opportunities for mid-Michigan residents and visitors to enjoy an easy, convenient travel experience starting from #FlyLansing to a major travel hub. From ORD, you can enjoy a getaway in the Windy City or connect to other destinations across the globe!

Thanks to a recent grant from the federal government, we are replacing aging boarding bridges with state-of-the-art units! This means a more climate-controlled, reliable, and accessible transition from the gate to your seat. The nearly $8 million in jetbridge funding was included in the federal budget bill that was signed after passing both the House and the Senate earlier this year.

We’re also progressing on our Roadway Improvement Project to modernize our roadways and ensure smoother traffic flow. These improvements are necessary to support future economic development opportunities at the airport and to accommodate increased semitruck traffic, cargo traffic, and standard vehicle traffic utilizing airport-owned roadways on a daily basis. It also includes the installation of a pedestrian walkway spanning the full length of Capital City Blvd. to the terminal building. Keep an eye on our social media as we head into spring and summer for important construction updates!

Investing in LAN helps position the airport to meet the demands of a growing aviation and logistics industry, reinforcing the airport’s position as a key regional transportation hub.

Congratulations to Elliott Black, A.A.E., Director of Finance & Administration at the Capital Region Airport Authority (CRAA), who earned the coveted Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) designation!

This high honor is given by the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE). To qualify, Elliott had to complete three phases of the accreditation process: pass an examination, fulfill a writing requirement, and demonstrate in an interview his knowledge of airport management, business administration, and general transportation economics.

Elliott’s accomplishment represents his incredible dedication and expertise that he brings to our airport and community. We are proud to have you as part of the #LANfam, Elliott!
